OTC Associate of Science in Nursing program to hold first-ever pinning ceremony

SPRINGFIELD, MO. — The Associate of Science in Nursing program at Ozarks Technical Community College will hold a pinning ceremony for its 2009 graduates on Wednesday, May 13, at 6 p.m.  This year’s event, which will be held at the Gillioz Theatre in downtown Springfield, marks the first-ever graduating class from the new program.

The ASN program is designed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to Registered Nurse (RN) program that permits the qualifying LPN to complete the RN nursing courses in 36 weeks.  Graduates are eligible to apply to take the exam to become licensed as a Registered Nurse.  The 24 graduates honored in Wednesday’s ceremony are also eligible to walk in the College’s commencement ceremony, to be held Thursday, May 14, at 6 p.m. at JQH Arena.

Ozarks Technical Community College offers Associates degrees and certificates in a variety of technical, allied health, and general education programs.  Classes are available at five locations throughout southwest Missouri; students can also earn a complete Associates degree through the College’s online classes.  A degree can be completed in two years or less, at a fraction of the cost of many area colleges.  For more information or to register for classes, visit www.otc.edu or call (417) 447-7500.
