Patrick Vaughn, Ph.D., dean of arts and humanities at St. Charles Community College since 2004, has been appointed vice president for academic affairs at St. Louis Community College-Wildwood. Vaughn joins the Wildwood staff July 1.

“Patrick has extensive teaching and administrative experience at the community college level,” said Pam McIntyre, STLCC-Wildwood president. “He is well equipped to help the Wildwood campus continue to provide a high quality academic experience for its students and to help oversee our future growth in the local community.”

Vaughn will serve as STLCC-Wildwood’s chief academic officer and will be responsible for the overall planning, development, coordination, evaluation and growth of the campus’ academic programs. He will provide oversight of Wildwood’s curriculum- and faculty-related policies, processes, systems and records. He also will coordinate with the district on articulation of courses and programs, assessment and instructional resources.

Grayson County Community College was a means for me to discover my interests, afford school and learn what it took to succeed in college,” Vaughn said. “Today, community colleges provide these and many more benefits to our students and our communities. It is with great excitement that I join the pioneering team at St. Louis Community College-Wildwood. I look forward to helping build a valuable community resource that can touch so many lives in such a positive way.”

Vaughn has more than 11 years of experience as a college administrator, including six years as theatre program coordinator at Angelina College (Lufkin,Texas). His college service includes nine years as technical director for the fine arts division and more than 10 years as instructor of speech and theatre at Angelina College. He also has taught at Eastern New Mexico University and Texas Tech University, and was a guest lecturer at Hunan Normal University in China.

Vaughn completed the Academy for Leadership and Development, and Cornell University’s Administrative Management Institute. Continuing his broad background of training and interests, he also was to complete the second level of comedy writing in June at Second City in Chicago.

Vaughn earned his interdisciplinary Ph.D. with an emphasis in theatre from Texas Tech University. His master’s degree in directing and scenic design is from Texas Tech University, and his bachelor of fine arts degree is from Eastern New Mexico University.
