SPRINGFIELD, MO. — Enrollment at Ozarks Technical Community College has risen once again, with 12,383 students enrolled for the spring 2010 semester, up 16.6 percent from last spring. The Springfield campus has grown by 11.5 percent, with 7,991 students taking classes this spring. Online enrollment continues to grow dramatically: the number of students taking the majority of their courses online has increased to 2,067, up 33.6 percent from last spring.
“This pattern of significant growth every semester demonstrates the community’s continued need for the education and training we provide,” said Dr. Hal Higdon, president of the College. “With our recent announcement of donated facilities in Lebanon, and constant efforts to make the best use of our limited physical space, we are doing everything we can to meet the needs of our students.”
The Richwood Valley campus in Christian County has 981 students enrolled, an increase of more than 18 percent. The Lebanon Education Center is up by nearly 23 percent, with 427 students enrolled. The College’s Branson Education Center is serving 385 students this semester, up 21.5 percent from last spring, and the Waynesville Education Center is showing an increase of nearly 71 percent, with 210 students enrolled.
Ozarks Technical Community College offers associate degrees and certificates in a variety of technical, allied health, and two-year transfer degree programs, as well as workforce development opportunities and non-credit courses. Classes are available at five locations throughout southwest Missouri; students can also earn a complete associate degree through the College’s online classes. A degree can be completed in two years or less, at a fraction of the cost of many area colleges. For more information or to register for classes, visit www.otc.edu or call (417) 447-7500.
